This happens when the registrant signed up for a "dot com biz card" site
at NSI. The process for modifying these domains is completely different
than other modifications at NSI: The registrant should have a password
that allows them to log in on the Web site and update the e-mail address
(after which you have to wait a day or two for the WHOIS to update). The
normal NSI e-mail form submission process does not apply.
If the registrant has misplaced the password, you have to have them call
NSI to find out what it is.
If this is a new hosting customer of yours, you probably do not want him
or her to submit a DNS change request using the NSI Web site. Doing so
IMMEDIATELY cancels the "dot com biz card" Web hosting service for the
account, making the site disappear from the net until the root servers
are updated. Instead, the safe way is to have the registrant update the
contact e-mail address, submit a registrar transfer, then update the DNS
entries once it's on OpenSRS.
