Hi,

Unfortunately, the new timeline IS a big deal, that could
effect resellers, registrars, and NueLevel alike. Below is
an excerpt from an e-mail I sent Rick, which explains why.

<snip>

Many resellers and registrars alike will be "authorizing"
the funds to cover any possible registration before
selection takes place. This puts a hold on the funds. Then,
once selection takes place, the appropriate funds will be
"captured" using the Auth code obtained when the
authorization was done. Here's the problem: I talked to
Authorize.net, and they say that the period the auths will
stay valid differs from bank to bank, card to card. They
said that most banks will keep the funds on hold for two
weeks. So it would be wise to do the authorizations after
Sept. 17th at the earliest, which is two weeks before Oct
1st. However, you want to leave time to try to contact
people who's authorizations don't go through, to make other
arrangements for payment BEFORE selection takes place.
Finally, in my case at least, it looks like we'll be waiting
until the authorizations are performed before we actually
submit the applications. That way, if we can't authorize
the funds, we won't submit the applications and therefore
don't have to worry about getting screwed.

So, as you can see, the new timeline makes this all very
difficult. It basically gives us about sixteen hours to
authorize all the funds, contact any failed auths, and
submit four months worth of applications (no more then five
at a time through the RWI). Then, once selection takes
place, we've got the rest of the day to capture all the
funds before many of them disappear. Yikes! And God forbid
NeuLevel or OpenSRS (unimaginable!) are a little late on
notifying us of successful registrations.

I'd hate to see this turn into a big mess on Oct 1st.

</snip>

If my logic is flawed, please feel free to correct me. Does
anyone else share my concerns?

I'm sure it is nothing more than a miscommunication between
ourselves and
the registry. Since this date is (um) more than 3 months
away, I'm sure
it is not that big of a deal (is it?). Anyway, we'll work
to either get
our site updated, or perhaps NueLevel has older information
;)
