Hi all, (I'm sorry if this is the wrong forum but I couldn't find any other
likely place)

I'm wondering if anyone could help me.

I'm sure you've seen this problem before. I am getting stuck making a
transfer of a domain through OpenSrs. The transfer keeps getting stuck at
Network Solutions.

The domain name is Freightfox.com. This is currently registered with Corpex
who are using Network Solutions to maintain the domain's place in registry.
I am trying to transfer from Corpex to Register.ie. Register.ie uses OpenSRS
for its transfers.

Whenever I try to do the transfer (this is now the third time) I succeed in
getting Corpex to complete the first Admin acceptance of transfer. However,
when OpenSRS then contacts Network Solutions to confirm the final part of
the technical transfer they don't do anything. They never contact Corpex or
us, the owner, to confirm the transfer. The transfer then fails and I've got
to try (and pay) again!

When I call Network Solutions they say that they can't do anything unless I
have a tracking number. They say that this tracking number would have been
automatically sent out in reply to the request transfer. Presumably this
would have been sent to OpenSRS.

When I call Register.ie they say that the system is automated by OpenSRS and
that they can get no special insight into what is going on. All they give me
is the current status:

"Transfer Information:
Transfer Status: Pending Registry Approval
Owner Request Date: 3:34 am Jun 27, 2001
Owner Confirmation Date: 10:10 am Jun 27, 2001
Registry Request Date: 10:29 am Jun 27, 2001"

Corpex say they know nothing about OpenSRS's mechanism and don't know how
they can help. They also say that they have received no requests from
Network Solutions to confirm the transfer. Corpex are listed as technical,
admin and billing contacts.

Does anyone have any idea as to what is going on or how I can get this to
work? I'm pretty sure this third time has failed and I'll have to go for a
fourth but I'd like to know how to ensure that it will succeed next time.

Thanks for any help which you can give me
Robert
PS In the OpenSRS Support FAQ it states that at the registry approval stage
the transfer should progress if nothing is heard back from the registry:

"Then the request is sent to the Registry where it awaits approval. Unless
the losing Registrar explicitly denies the transfer (for instance, the
account may not be "in good standing" with them), it will usually go through
this step within 5 days. It can go through sooner if the losing registrar
explicitly approves the transfer. This will vary from registrar to
registrar. "
However, in a previous case an error comes back stating that:

" reg_system order # 3361504 has failed for the
following reason:

Transfer timed out waiting for registry approval"

But in the support FAQ is states that the transfer will proceed if not
explicitly denied.... isn't this a contradiction?
