Mr. Petoskey suggests that registrars should return domains to availability 40 days after expiration. This would change only the timing of deletes, but nothing else. It would not affect the existence of the race for the deleting names; it would do nothing to decrease people's desire to back-order names in advance - something only SnapNames offers; and the relative success of SnapNames versus others would not change at all.
