I called about the last domains we had troubles with and was told the same
thing.  I was also told that for the last 1-2 weeks before the expiration
date the domain is already expired.

I don't see how it is valid under ICANN rules.  I also recall it being
mentioned in their FAQ.

Seems like a class action suit is in order ??  I thought that was what
OpenSRS was exploring so I don't know what has been done.

There is also a legal principle of restraint of trade, and opensrs is the
one with the standing to apply it.
