They will reject it, since they are not authoritative for the parent
domain (had people try it  :)

The most likely cause of his problem is that the IP address or
hostname was previously registered as a nameserver with NSI, and then
later transferred out with the parent domain.

NSI doesn't know how to handle that situation.  The smart move for NSI
would be to delete all host records for domains as they are
transferred out.  Of course, NSI is not known for their smarts.
