Ok, I'll reiterate.

*Initially* we had everything on one link, and the easiest quick fix to
assuade all the lusers using clients that broke the link was to break things
out.

I pick the door labelled a) (didn't try very hard).  Working with the
principle of Occam's Razor - just moving the data bits around (AND
maintaining reverse compatability with anyone out there with emails they
hadn't clicked the link on!) was the quickest, simplest solution.  Once that
was done we moved it to the back burner, as there was other issues to work
on (ya know, renewals, system rearchitecture, slacking off)

So, while we're always working hard to improve the system (and trust me on
that, it's the main part of my job) there's a lot to juggle in terms of
timing and resources.  I'll put this on my plate, we WILL get to it (some
day) and I appreciate the support :)
