Seems they are schizophrenic. I forgot to include one of the first responses I received from them:
Dear Anthony, Your transfer will be automatically acknowledged and processed five days after the request to transfer has been made by the requesting registrar. According to our records, this transfer was requested on the October the 5th, and should therefore be completed within 1 or 2 days. The renewal notice you received is an automated email sent to the administrative contact of any domains which are due to expire in our system.
