Hi, My company is looking to use OpenSRS for registering domains...we have been registering .uk domains for about 3 years now, as we are members of Nominet (we are a uk company). Over this time, we have built an in-house control panel for customers, and ordering system. We of course want to bring the domains OpenSRS offer into this current system.
The Control Panel we wrote, allows users to manage all the domains they own with us under 1 username/password. Keeping life easy for them and us :-) Also if they every want to purchase more domains, its just a case of picking them, entering there username/password, and then entering payment details. Once done, the new domain(s) turn up in there Control Panel. Anyway, the point. Is is possable that once we become Opensrs resellers, to keep our current system, and when someone registers a domain name to then to have our scripts "contact" OpenSRS servers though the perl API code (??) with the commands/codes needed to register a domain name? This way, our customers see nothing going to or coming from OpenSRS. Because checking out quite a few opensrs resellers, all seem to be using the scripts you provide, this is something we don't want to do - as we just want to send the register domain commands though our own current scripts. Also if it does/can work like that, will our customers receieve any OpenSRS login details? As I believe you assign each domain name a username/password for use on manage.opensrs.org? Also for DNS/contact information changes on domains, can we again just send the commands to OpenSRS though our own scripts to make changes to the domain name? One last thing, is there any time where our customers will receieve information/emails directly from OpenSRS about there domain name brought though us? We want to manage renewal reminders in house, and I think you can disable that with OpenSRS? I look forward to hearing from someone, and of course joining OpenSRS :-) Thanks, Graeme Sandwell UK Internet Sites Limited. http://www.ukinternetsites.com/
