I'm currently looking into integrating PayPal. We've used it for years selling on e-bay and have found it to be extremely reliable. The only catch is (outside of online auction goers), i'm not sure how many domain name customers will have a paypal account and it is more time consuming to setup than just doing a simple credit card payment. But...as a payment option it shouldn't be difficult and the risks don't seem to be any greater than with a credit card. I do recommend that you only work with verified paypal customers. These are the ones that have their paypal account attached to a real live bank account and have verified that they have control of that account. It is the paypal verion of AVS. ;)
There is a developer section on the paypal site...integration should not be too difficult since it works a lot like the authorize.net transact.dll where you post a transaction to a URL and they forward back to your site the transaction results...hell, they even have a PayPal Developer Network thingy where you can get the docs for integration. Here are their tech docs: http://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=p/xcl/rec/resources-outside Here is the link for the PayPal developer network. http://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_help-ext&eloc=0&loc=431 -bryanw HalfPriceNames Domain Registry http://www.halfpricenames.com/ -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Spy OpenSRS Mail Sent: Saturday, November 17, 2001 4:06 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Pay Pal Has anyone integrated Pay Pal? My guess is to treat them like mail in check customers or set up a separate search process that only lets them register one domain at a time with no ancillary services. Our current system is entirely prohibitive with our "do you want fries with that" interface. To make matters worse, we will move to profiling customers (if we ever launch our new system). Another note, we have never suffered but on attempted charge back in two years. If you have been using Pay Pal, what risks and liabilities have you found? Also, does anyone know where I can find those black backed recordable CD's like on a Play station game? Those things are cool. <laugh> For this I can be reached off list at [EMAIL PROTECTED] Regards Lars Hindsley SpyProductions Achieve Web Success http://www.spyproductions.com vox: 302.369.3060 fax: 302.369.6040 ----------------------------------- support: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Web services: domain names-hosting-design Since 1991 SpyProductions serves the globe
