Just thought everyone might like to see this forum post from someone at sitepoint.com - shows how confusing some people find the WHOIS output for openSRS names:
------------ I notice that on many EXPIRED domain names, the whois lookup info indicates that it is UNAVAILABLE and the following: "Sponsoring Reseller; for Technical Support with respect to this domain contact: SuchandSuch [EMAIL PROTECTED]" What exactly does this mean? I am assuming it means what it sounds like, that they someone is reselling the name which is usually for a sum likely above a regular price. If the domain remains "expired" then how does that SuchandSuch firm get to have a claim on it without renewing it like everyone else? and underline the question if that "sponsoring reseller" is their original registrar? >From a previous topic I posted I understand that it is common practise for NetSol and others to allow a grace period (sometimes years past the date) but this is different as it is not only ON-HOLD but also up for sale by the registrar or a broker without them having to renew it like?? Could anyone shed a little light on all this? Am I on the wrong track altogether? --------- Regards, Lee Hodgson e: [EMAIL PROTECTED] w: http://www.domainguru.com <- Your Personal Domain Name Consultant. $: http://ws.domainguru.com <- Easily the most rewarding domain affiliate program!
