At first I thought you were crazy :)  Thanks for the information (on and
offlist); we tracked down the source of the problem, and have fixed it.  You
may have seen 4 out of 10 errors, but in parsing the logs we found that
(testing aside) the actual problem was less than 1% (but still noticable)
and was only affecting the transfers CGI page.
