I completely agree with you.

For me, domain lookups have been always excessively slow, with each name a 
customer enters, I check for com, net, org, tv, biz & info; this takes in 
optimal circumstances around 10 seconds to display results (plus delay for 
downloading html page).

I don't think I'm checking too many names at once, in fact that's the 
minimum IMHO, but I'm sure we're loosing customers for the long delay to 
display available names in our website.

I understand we're at disadvantage for checking names from within Spain, 
OpenSRS servers are at 165 ms (round-trip) from here. Many time ago I 
suggested in dev-list the adding of a new API command, like 'Check Domain' 
but with the ability of checking several names at once, things would be 
speeded up in this way since we're saving a lot of queries to the server. 
That message was ignored... not even responded :-(
