BTW. I'm glad my suggestion worked. Even though it contradicted the
documentation :)

Consensus around here is, Perl 5.6 is NOT required unless you are doing
RACE. In this particular case, upgrading to 5.6 probably updated
something else that was required.

I never had any trouble finding verify_install.cgi. It just wasn't
working properly until the Perl upgrade.
