Quoting Chris Scott <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:

| If you get an answer, I'd be interested in it. I have the exact same problem
| w/a domain that was originally registered through Netsol, transferred to
| Registrars.com, and now back to Netsol since they acquired Registrars.com.
|
| They are saying the domain expired a year ago when the WHOIS says that it
| expires this year so they are declining the transfer. When I asked them
| about it, their reply was that WHOIS is "purely cosmetic" and doesn't
| necessarily reflect the correct expiration date. The best part is that they
| were happy to start sending me expiration notices every few days like the
| domain is expiring soon but when I try to transfer they say that it expired a
| year ago.

NetSol does seem to have a problem but, surprisingly, it always seems to
be in their favor:-). [I've been off the list for about three months so
please forgive me, and thanks in advance for letting me know if the
following has been posted before.]

NetSol has been sending me renewal notices for domains that I transfered
to OpenSRS months ago. They authorized the transfer but it would seem
that they didn't remove them from their billing software. The "purely
cosmetic" public whois shows this clearly. I have just been ignoring
them and haven't had a problem yet:-). A partial example follows:

"purely cosmetic" whois with expiration date cut and pasted:

   Domain Name: AHORITA.ORG
   Registrar: TUCOWS, INC.
   Whois Server: whois.opensrs.net
   Referral URL: http://www.opensrs.org
   Name Server: PASIONLATINA.NET
   Name Server: SAVVYWORLD.ORG
   Name Server: NS3.REALPROGRAMMERS.COM
   Name Server: NS2.REALPROGRAMMERS.COM
   Name Server: NS5.REALPROGRAMMERS.COM
   Name Server: DNS.GUEY.NET
