Thanks Matthias, the domain really is locked. I believed the RWI when it said the lock had been disabled. I'll just keep it with that bridge that I bought :)

Is this a timing issue with the registry or...

I got the same error for all the trademark .us when I wanted to change the
nameservers.
Perhaps there is something 'locked' at the registry with your domain.
