Hello:

I am a support engineer from HostMySite.com, a reseller of OpenSRS.  Since
April 23rd I have been attempting to transfer the domain name
'netdatacenter.com' from Network Solutions to our own OpenSRS account.

Below is the information from my OpenSRS account regarding this transfer.
As you can see it was initiated and re-initiated several times, but at least
at one point the process went all the way to NSI because of the May 6th note
(i.e. this all isn't because I have a bad email address).  I have called
Network Solutions on 4 separate occasions and spoken with numerous customer
service reps and even 2 managers.  My Service Request Numbers for Network
Solutions are 1-1E6LLN and 1-1E5ICZ.

11-MAY-2002 20:31:44 Mon May  6 14:45:44 2002 Domain transfer declined by
current registrar: NSI
NIC tracking number: NIC-020501.6aa8

Wed May  1 05:22:43 2002 Transfer timed out waiting for owner approval.

Network Solutions has repeatedly denied my attempts to transfer this
domain claiming that I owe money - the account in question has an invoice on
it fro this coming June, when the domain will renew.  So, in effect, they
have PRE-BILLED ME and are refusing to allow me to transfer my domain
because of this supposed outstanding debt.  I have continually complained
and vented at them but they refuse to put in on the phone with anyone that
can actually do anything - they merely give me a number and 'escalate' the
issue.  I have spoken with my contact at OpenSRS and there appears to be
nothing he can do about this.  Please help give me some sort of
alternative - I feel as though I'm dealing with a corrupt, incompetent
organization with no clear authority over them.

Regards,
Jamie Price

Thank you for your inquiry.

Although we review complaints to discern trends, ICANN's mission does not
include handling customer-service issues.  Complaints about a registrar's
performance that can not be resolved with a registrar may be addressed by
private-sector agencies involved in addressing customer complaints, or by
governmental consumer protection agencies.  If you'd like, we would however
be happy to forward your complaint to the registrar for review and further
handling.

If you're having trouble transferring your domain from one registrar to
another, you should contact the registrar you want to transfer to for
assistance.  If your preferred registrar is having any trouble processing
your transfer, your registrar can obtain assistance from ICANN or the
registry operator as appropriate.

We hope this information is helpful.  Please let us know if you have any
additional questions.

Best regards,
ICANN
