I find it best to push them myself first. All you really need to do in most cases is write a certified letter (return receipt). Costs around $4.00 plus your time. I belive most people pay serious attention to these "notices." And, the first step is usually to give the other side a chance to cure the problem. I'd still ask for dinner, Hugh.
