I seem to remember the upgrade program...unfortunately at the time, I had no
customers threatening to go to another registrar if we didn't offer them an
upgrade otherwise I would have been all over it...

This issue will become more important after the .NAME registry goes live and
marketing efforts are cranked up...(i know i'm starting to sound like a
broken record but i'm getting pounded by a handful of customers who weren't
as forward thinking...it is quite reasonable to expect to be able to add the
service later).

Actually (and I apologize for Ross here)...

The registry DOES provide for upgrades. Currently the OpenSRS system does
not. We're looking into possible solutions (including transfers/renewals of
email forward as a seperate object than domains), but it's a significant
architecture change to get this to work properly (and have no impact to our
channel).

In the interim, if you want email you MUST get it when you purchase the
domain. Going forward, we'll keep you up to date (we did offer a limited
"upgrade" program, but the responses were negligible so we re-canted)
