That would, of course, presume that I've never received such spam, or 
I'd be forced to disagree with myself.

I receive such all the time, and accept that it's the "crappy part" 
of having a domain, but that there are valid reasons why contact 
info, of differing types (phone/email/snailmail) need to be publicly 
available to anyone who might need it at any given time.
