I'll have to dig into this, but it might be a rejection from the registry since they calculate the end-day a little differently (they use 23:59:59 of the day you bought the domain - and that's just slightly over 10 years unless you buy it AT 23:59:59).
Could be they have a leap year error in the creation of the domain, but not in the checking algorithm (which would give you an extra day or two).
