What about suggesting your client use a service such as http://dyndns.org/

Can someone please reply off list with some recommendations for someone who wants to be able to change their ip themselves? Have a customer that wishes to not have his own name server but be able to change his IP when his cable carrier changes it on him. Best we offer is mail support and we change it on our server when we get it but he would like to actually change the records himself when he finds out his domain no longer points to his PC because the cable company changed them again....
