Obviously, Network solutions must know ASAP!  That is why you can't register
the domain on their servers later.  So the root servers probably get updated
rather quickly.  That won't help your customers though.  You don't use the
root domains servers UNLESS all other mediary servers have expired caches.
 That can take a long time.  Case in point?

1. I registered a NEW domain that was NEVER used.  It updated just about
instantaneously!  I was SHOCKED!  I could use it ASAP!  I setup everything
BEFOREHAND, and tested it LOCALLY, and THEN registered the domain.
2. I registered a NEW domain that was used only by ME(to check my dns servers
that failed).  It took about 2 days to work.
3. I modified an existing domain, and it took a few weeks.  Granted, the
webhost could have made a mistake here.  I had no control here.  The others
were on my OWN dedicated domain that I setup.
