Planet Nic Re: Long overdue expired domain drops
Hello Scott,
Some time ago, and on
separate occasion, I had discussions with both yourself and Kirk Muse, our
former support contact, regarding a number of domain names which were
originally registered via Planet Nic while we were a part of the
Register.Com Global Partner Network program. In each case, after these
domains had expired, they were not dealt with as outlined by the ICANN
registrar agreement, and submitted for deletion after the specified wait period.
They were instead held by Register.Com, having their WHOIS records modified
to read "register.com - Unpaid Names Department"-x. It has become obvious
to me that Register.Com has no intention of submitting these names for
deletion as I was told they would be some months ago. Instead, it
appears that they are being held indefinitely in an attempt to force renewal
with your company, thus using your position to promote an unfair business
advantage. If I am mistaken, please correct me, and accept my
apology.
I am writing you today to
request a detailed response regarding this matter. Specifically, I would
like to know the exact date that these domains will be deleted.
Also, I request an explanation as to why these names have
not already been submitted for deletion, and on what grounds they have
been modified and held. To the best of my knowledge, none of the names in
question were either "unpaid", or out of compliance in any way with regard to
their contact information.
As you may not be aware of the complete list to which I make reference, I would appreciate it if you would target one domain name specifically at this time. So that I am intimately aware of all details surrounding the name in question, let's use one of my personal domains: the-petersens.com. Registered on 8/22/2000 for two years, and knowingly allowed by myself to expire on 8/22/2002. Yet, as of 01/24/2003, over five months post expiry, still showing "register.com - unpaid names department-r" as the registrant, and still not available for public registration. I would also like to call to your attention the fact that for this entire time, that domain has remained with our name servers (ns1. - ns3.planet-nic.com) listed as authoritative, however, even though proper zone files are, and have always been, in place, it is unresolvable. To that point, I would also request an explanation. I await your reply.
Best Regards, |
