Greetings,

I've asked about this before, but I'm going to ask again - as it
seems to be a constantly neglected aspect of OpenSRS. The
issue is that of speed. In particular, domain lookups are ...
so .... very .... painfully .... slow!

It's been this way ever since OpenSRS went with their XML
protocol (yes - THAT long ago).

My tests show an average of 5.38 seconds for the XML
version, compared to 3.21 seconds for the old (VERY old)
client code which does not use XML. These tests are based
on 3-domain lookup at a time (corresponding com/net/org
for same domain). This isn't a one-off difference - I've done
a lot of performance testing in the past with the same results.

The catch is of course, that the old server only does lookups
on com/net/org and not biz/info - but I can just use the new
code for those.

I can assure you that faster lookups = more sales. This is
not an insignificant issue.

The solution would be for OpenSRS to have a separate
"lookup server" that can process queries a lot faster. I
don't see what is so hard about this.
