Hello,

People are ready to leave NSI even without the "promo" pricing, but
transferring domains out of NSI is a real pain...:(

They have even started another tactic of not letting customers get
control of the whois data management. If you have a domain registered
through a NSI partner, you may have gotten a "special" price of around
$15 or so...

Earlier the whois modifications were done by email from the admin/tech
contact, however now they use a web based system, and recently some
clients of mine were told that if they wanted to have a
username/password to modify the domain details then they would *have*
to pay $35.00 to renew the domain even through the partner. Now even
to change contacts, etc the customer has to approach the partner from
whom he registered the domain or agree to pay a higher cost!

In effect, deterring the domain owners from gaining control of the
whois data and making the transfer difficult in the process. Maybe
just VeriSlime's way of pinching pennies (that are in the customers
pocket!!)
