Do you think that our users are too dim to simply re-size their browser
windows as they see fit, and instead prefer to receive cryptic jargon
such as the following:

that requires even more unnecessary hoops in order to get to the content?

I still fail to understand the need for any Javascript hackery whatsoever.

(Incidentally, after jumping through the hoops, the results are bizarre
to my eye: the lower 3/4 of the window is a large blue region, with a
couple of scrolling lists crammed into the upper-most frame such that
their contents are hardly navigable.  In fact, I can't even drag the damn
frame borders to fix this.)
