I have noticed that Nominet now sends registrants a postal letter
inviting them to login to their website with the provided security code
to correct/update the registration information for WHOIS etc. Also, for
a long time, the certificate they hold can be used to change information
or transfer to a third party, again directly with Nominet.
Naturally Tucows doesn't get to hear about this so the information in
the manage interface is wrong and remains wrong. This is especially
troublesome as the organisation name can be changed by Nominet but
cannot be changed through the Tucows API.
Perhaps Tucows can lobby Nominet for some kind of automated notification
when domain information is changed their end? This could cause the
opensrs system to re-request the domain info from the automaton. (It
would be nice if this could also follow through with an e-mail to the
reseller, for those of us who store contact information locally).
In the meantime, perhaps the reseller interface or API could have an
option to 'request authoritative information from supplier'.
Cheers,
David
