Again, how ? How is clicking on "Click here for our discussion groups" only for geeks if it brings up a usenet reading connected to ,say, a private server that would have only a company's support newsgroups ?

Because the interface presented by newsreaders is nowhere near as customizable for the content, and nowhere near as clear for the naive user.
