This issue began (for us) around 1300 EDT (1700 UTC) and has left us with no incoming mail for the past four hours. For us to rely on the EDS, we need better monitoring. I'm relieved that mail is not being lost (it's trickling in now).
One problem we've been dealing with is having multiple MX records. We have found certain spammers are sophisticated enough to look at MX records, skip the first record (on the valid guess that it can be a filtering service), and pump mail straight to the secondary mail handlers. So, while it's not a great idea to have only one MX record, it ends up defeating the spam filtering to have two. Maybe we need to use Tucows as a primary EDS and another vendor as secondary... - Juan Aguilar -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, May 14, 2004 4:53 PM Subject: System Status Changes Please be advised the following update has been made to the Tucows OpenSRS <Horizon/Live> System Status : Service: Email Defense Service has been changed from "Online" to "Degraded Performance" at 20:45 UTC, 14 May 2004.
