My gut instinct is that I feel bad about this.

Having thought about it for a couple of days I think why i feel uneasy is
that it
is a psychological shift from the idea of being a domain "owner" to being a
temporary
"holder" of a domain name.

Now I am fully aware that registrants never owned their domain name in the
way that
they could own a chair or a cat or dog, but there was a certain fixed
solidity in the agreements.
This is why I dont like WLS either, as it is giving a third part some rights
over the domain name
at the end of its life.

These processes seem to overcomplicate the domain ownership/ending process.

The owner can sell the domain beofre expiry to anyone they like.
I had a nice holiday in Florida this year for 5 people from the sale of a
domain name.

I am not against the auction idea per se, I just feel uneasy.
