I installed Davical on my Ubuntu 9.10 box last year, and it was pretty painless, and worked well. The web interface was pretty kludgy, but maybe there are some add ons that could improve it, i don't know, I always used a client program on my other machines to access it. I didn't use it extensively, and so I'm not using it anymore, but for the time I was using it, it just worked and got the job done. I didn't actually try and get my ipod touch to connect to it, so I can't speak for that.
