I've just installed emacs on a linode virtual machine running Centos. When I run emacs, the screen seems wrongly configured in that the insertion point seems to be one line below where it should be. In addition, the black bar across the bottom of the wraps to a second line, even when I make the terminal window as large as possible. Any pointers on fixing this?
