Last week I did an upgrade install of Fedora 17. All went well. The other day I received the standard notification that there were updates available, I started the update, but inadvertently logged out. From work I logged in and did a yum update. The problem I got was "ERROR with transaction check vs depsolve:" libcups.so.2 is needed by gtk2-2.24.10-1.fc17.i686 mesa-dri-filesystem(x86-32) is needed by mesa-dri-drivers-8.0.3-1.fc17.i686
A Google search shows many references as well as bugzillas. The real problem here has to do with the upgrade install and some left over stuff. The solution was to remove mesa-dri-drivers-8.0.3-1.fc16.i686 and gtk2-2.24.10-1.fc16.i686 The 32-bit mesa driver is needed by adobe reader. In any case after removing both of these the update completed successfully. I usually recommend a new install, but I sometimes like to do an upgrade install because it is a bit easier. In any case, all is well now. BTW: The only reason I used Adobe Reader was that my bank statements when I print dual sided (1 side at a time), it always skips a page. Adobe seems to do better. Most of the time I print at work where we have a duplexer. -- Jerry Feldman <[email protected]> Boston Linux and Unix PGP key id:3BC1EB90 PGP Key fingerprint: 49E2 C52A FC5A A31F 8D66 C0AF 7CEA 30FC 3BC1 EB90
