RAID-Z uses the same basic data and parity distribution as RAID-5 with atomic writes and checksums and other "magic" to ensure that there are no write holes. RAID-Z2 is RAID-Z with double parity data similar to RAID-6. RAID-Z3 is RAID-Z with triple parity data.
