This position is located in Boston (near South Station) however there is remote work. We are seeking experienced technology professionals that can provide Systems Administration expertise as well as working knowledge of an RDBMS. You will support the back-end operations of our Healthcare Analytics Platform based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 or Apple OS X Server 10.6 and MySQL 5.1 back-end. Proficient Shell, Python, or Perl programming experience a plus. Responsibilities: * Monitor server events, troubleshoot faults, and resolve problems * Design and monitor server backups and validate recovery plans * Automate routine processes and procedures * Design security roles; enroll users and audit system security * Follow change management policies for database and systems maintenance and upgrades * Monitor database population routines (ETL) and ensure quality of production load processes * Coordinate with other teams in matters such as capacity planning and application design * Follow software release process to deploy code changes * Ensure implementation of industry best practices in systems administration * Participate in a 24x7 on call rotation Experience: * Experience supporting a LAMP environment * Install, support, and maintain RHEL6, Apple OS X Server (Snow Leopard), and Windows Server in a production environment * Experience writing moderately complex Shell, Python, or Perl scripts * Experience with server high availability technologies such as Linux-HA and DRBD * Expertise creating robust, repeatable, and stable automation of complex administrative procedures * Analyze and respond to performance and other maintenance issues * Proven ability to troubleshoot problems in person, over the phone, and via email * Solid understanding and experience in disaster recovery, planning, and implementation for production environments * Experience with backup and recovery processes * Familiarity with automated monitoring systems * Working knowledge of SQL query construction for database applications * Working knowledge of enterprise technology such as TCP/IP, DNS, and SAN/NAS/DAS Storage Administration Additional Advantages: * MySQL, IBM Netezza, SQL Server, or Oracle 10g Database administration experience is a plus * Healthcare experience is a plus Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or equivalent * 3+ years recent production server operating system administration (Unix/Linux , OS X Server, Windows Server) * 3+ years recent server hardware administration (HP, Dell, IBM, Apple) * 3+ years Perl-Modperl, PHP, Python, Shell scripting experience * Apache HTTP Server experience * 1+ years working with automated monitoring servers (Nagios) * 1+ years of SQL * Understanding of Data Warehouse and ETL concepts * Self-starter with a strong work ethic * Independent worker who works well as part of talented team * Attention to detail * Strong teamwork, leadership, and collaboration skills * Strong customer service orientation * Excellent communication skills Ideal salary range is 90-100k.
