I'm not really sure where this thread got to - I got lost in things that sounded like people philosophizing on the way things should be, without tying it back to the real world.
But I'll say this: On the openindiana lists, we followed the recommendation of Mailman (http://wiki.list.org/display/DEV/DMARC) We recently upgraded to mailman 2.1.18, and set from_is_list = no, and dmarc_moderation_action = munge. The end result is, anybody sending from a domain where DMARC isn't reject or quarantine, everything goes normal. Anybody sending from a domain where dmarc is reject or quarantine, the From gets munged, as follows: From: Edward Ned Harvey via openindiana-discuss <[email protected]> So you may actually see who the message is from in your inbox. And when you hit reply, the reply is addressed to both the person and the list. So you may reply privately off-list, or publicly on-list. This is about as ideal as you can get, until mailman 3 is released. But most importantly, it is the most ideal *available* solution that actually exists in the real world. _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.blu.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss
