Access point vendors have been supporting Linux since the WRT54G, albeit most of them doing so unofficially so that they aren't bombarded with support calls (remember: maximize revenue, minimize costs). If the kernel were relicensed under GPLv3 then those vendors would be forced to drop that support for risk of running afoul of the fuck TiVo clause. Then we'd have no cheap hardware to run DD-WRT, Tomato and OpenWrt.

I fail to see how this would be fortunate.
