One of the beauties of virtualization is that you can use operating
systems that may not work with current hardware. I did this 40 years ago
with IBM's VM370. We sold out mainframe to another company in San
Antonio, and helped them install IBM DOS (mainframe OS - PCs were not
yet invented - but there were some decent hobby computers).

For a number of years I have been presenting a virtualization seminar

Linux host with Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows 8 as guests.
Do you think it would be possible for me to use Windows 98 as the guest
on my Linux host? I use Qemu.
This isn't idle curiosity. I use Win98 with 20th century applications to
view/work on a few 20th century content types like Wordperfect 5.1 and
Micrografx Windows Draw. My headless Win98 box works fine, but I'm
getting tired of maintaining my stuff via KVM switch, VNC etc.
