No idea where you live, but where I live in Ontario, the word "front"
does not conjure up what you describe. It is just an other word that is
at one's disposal. Just simply that. It is sad that you have removed
this from your working vocabulary and find that you can't bear the
thought of using it where it is used for another purpose.
