I know there are lots of improvements for the upcoming MM3 (where all dev focus is now thankfully) taht should address all of the moderator issues you describe above, so I'll go ask about whether ot not per user subject tags will be possible... Ok, so I'll make one more effort - how about using extremely short tags for the lists (I'm talking about just changing the subject tags, not the list names)? E.g., this one could just be [tdfd]...
