Hi all, I'm currently working on a large scale implementation of LibreOffice. We are talking about 10.000+ users.
One thing I have discovered is that the current multi language installation requires quite some extra effort to accomplish our goals. The default installation implements a large number of languages with English as the default. I thought it was supposed to default the Windows locale/language settings but it seems that it doesn't work. Another thing is that most of the machines are quite small and we would like to economize with disk space. To obtain only one language installed requires manipulation of the msi package (or by the use of a mst transformation file). Next upgrade will require that we once again create new msi files or mst files. An alternative solution is to install all the languages and then control the default language using an extension. We managed to install what we wanted, but it seems to me that it could be done easier. The installation mechanism supports parameters in the installation but the LibreOffice msi packages doesn't take these parameters to control language(s) to install. I would like to propose that the current Windows installation mechanism gets a makeover with the focus on administrative installation and administration of thousands of computers. Easy administration (or at least not difficult administration) is one of many decision parameters when a solution is selected. Currently I believe that LibreOffice is one of the most complicated in the marked. Just my two cents :-) Cheers, Leif Lodahl The Danish Team -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to [email protected] Archive: http://listarchives.documentfoundation.org/www/discuss/ *** All posts to this list are publicly archived for eternity ***
