Did you do ANY reading at all about this? It's not a "splinter" group... From the main OOo website, you get a link to http://kenai.com/projects/ooo-migration/pages/Home This is a project that has been on the go for a long time (almost 2 years since its start). The OOo site was moved off the old hosting infrastructure to a new one. The email you and everyone else who had an OOo account received was to let you know your account was moved and reset.... nothing more. No splinter group. No funny marketing attempts.
