As far as I know, LO could take up the symphony code either directly
or through Apache.
Yes, the Apache license is less restrictive, so AOO code can be
integrated into LO, but not the other way around unless the contributing
author in LO grants the more permissive license to AOO.
I think that numerous bug fixes from Symphony have already been
integrated into AOO, many of these related to DOCX import if I remember
correctly.
