Come on. Let's quibble. :)

Granted, there's plenty of inventment by Internet users in terms of their PC
and broadband connection.

But, one can upload photos to Flickr without a credit card.

When people like me glibly say 'zero cost duplication and distribution
services of the Internet' we tend to be referring to the ability to do this
without direct cost.

When you compare the direct cost of traditional duplication and distribution
services, it can appear as if the Internet is so close to zero it's easier
to use the word 'zero', rather than use a fully qualified phrase that
includes indirect costs (which still ends up being far less expensive).

For example, having borne the labour cost of composing this post, it's
difficult for me to count the cost (to me) of its duplication and
distribution as anything except zero.

I don't think this myth is really that dangerous.
