OVERVIEW
Join us in Charlotte to examine key issues and trends in copyright policy in colleges and universities. Discussions will focus on key issues that must be considered when drafting or revising institutional policies.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Compliance officers, intellectual property managers, university counsels, and librarians who are responsible for the creation, development, and administration of institutional copyright policies will be able to expand their understanding of copyright laws with emphasis on application.

The conference will provide guidance for the development of educational materials and activities for students, faculty, and administrators on the creation, use, management, and ownership of copyrighted work. It will also provide essential background on copyright law so participants can successfully lead the policy- drafting effort on their campuses.

Copyright, Libraries, and New Technologies

Copyright law has a long, complex relationship with new technologies. This conversation will address the future of how libraries, copyright, and digital technologies might conflict or mutually support richer learning opportunities. The discussion will focus on copyright issues unique to libraries.

Issues will include:
ILL loan and copies for patrons
Digitization of unpublished and published works
Identifying when it is "reasonable" to search for information under Section 108
Orphaned works and the meaning of possible new legislative solutions
Liability principles and how they relate to library activities
Acquiring of library resources
Building digital libraries
