Comrades,

Recently I asked you to join me in boycotting Regal Cinemas for
arresting and prosecuting Jhannet Sejas. For those who don't already
know, or have heard differently from Regal Cinemas, here are the
facts:
        1. Jhannet had no intention of re-distributing the tape for
commercial purposes as she said in statements
        2. Jhannet was taping a section of Transformers so she could get her
little brother excited about the movie
        3. When she was caught she had a total of 20 seconds of film on the
camera. Groups like the NYU Freeculture have said this would be
considered fair use
        4. Even the MPAA, the copyright police that go around suing people
without computers for file-sharing, didn't press charges.
        5. Regal Cinemas says they plan to prosecute Jhannet to the fullest
extent of the law, which could include jail time.

It is outrageous that they would take this kind of action against a
non-commercial "infringer" who was trying to generate more revenue for
the cinema. Many groups and individuals have already decided to
boycott Regal Cinemas for their mistreatment of Jhannet but we need to
step up the action on Regal cinemas until they fully drop the charges
and issue a formal apology. Additionally, we want Regal Cinemas to
fire the person responsible for this whole fiasco and implement
policies to insure it doesn't happen again.
Please join me today by taking, literally, five minutes to make a
world of difference for Jhannet and ideals which she is putting her
freedom on the line for.
------------------------------
Action Number One: Boycott Regal Cinemas
If you haven't already, please Boycott all Regal-owned movie theatres
including Regal, United Artists, and Edwards.
------------------------------
Action Number Two: Bring it to the desk of Don Delaria (Vice President
of Investor Relations)
Send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] We have provided a sample
letter but studies show that personalized letters are more than twice
as effective.

Subject: Unconscionable lack of discretion regarding Jhannet Sejas
Dear Mr. Delaria,

I am very disappointed to hear that one of your theater managers had
Jhannet Sejas arrested
(http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/08/01/AR2007080102398.html)
for recording 20 seconds of a movie. There is no way she could have
profited from this minute amount of footage. Rather, the evidence is
that she was only intending to show her brother an exciting portion of
the film.

Due to Regal's lack of discretion in this matter, I am currently
boycotting your chain. I will be glad to patronize you again when you
drop all charges against her and apologize.

Sincerely,

public backlash): 1-865-925-9539
Donald De Laria (VP of Investor Relations): 865-925-9685
Donale De Laria (Fax): 865-925-7858

Action Number Five: Get Local
Find your local theatre by going to regal cinemas and putting your zip
code in the Fandango box at the top right. Once you have your results,
click on the cinema you wish to call and it will show you the address
and number. These local branches can put pressure on the national
structure, make them advocate for you!

I have personally taken all of these actions and called all of these
numbers. Can I rely on you to do all of the actions and call at least
one of their corporate numbers? Freedom is on the line.

Intellectual Property is Theft,
