Just in case you are not joking and are the list admin...

It very much appeared that Fred Benenson posted about 'Google v. Viacom',
and then Jay commented on it (without a New York focus).

I suggest a discussion regarding copyright's struggle for continued
viability in the entertainment industry is pertinent to free culture.

That it happens to be located in NYC is immaterial.

The necessary criteria is that a post be relevant to free culture, the org,
or this list (rather than simply details of a local affinity event). It
doesn't otherwise matter that discussion concerns a localised event.

Not relevant: I'm going down the pub to discuss free culture - who wants to
join me?
Relevant: My local theme pub has banned the use of digital cameras in order
to protect the copyright on its internal décor.

The point about Viacom vs Google is not that it's in NYC, but that it is yet
another case of cultural freedom vs control - with potentially important
consequences.

It's pertinent to discuss it, e.g. its implications, etc.

If Jay had simply listed all the forthcoming NYC court cases that were more
or less pertinent to copyright, patent, and trademark issues, then that may
be considered overly parochial and not at all tailored to this list.
However, that's far from what Jay posted.
