This week in "Parker tries to write recipes for Free Culture activism..."

Say you have a good friend that's in a local band. What can you do to
help them out with being more free culture-ey?

I've never tried to do this before. Also, I'm not cool enough to have
friends in bands. But here are some ideas:

* tell them about creative commons. Does anyone know of a particularly
compelling piece by a musical artist, targeted at other musical
artists, talking about how cool CC is?
* encourage them to consider publishing their music on jamendo. it's a
great way to get the word out about their music, especially to a
global audience (lots of french ppl). also, jamendo makes it easy for
fans to write them reviews, share with their friends, and even DONATE!
are there other cool sites where they could publish their CC-licensed
music and win potential fame or money? I know grooveshark has a
feature where some songs will ask the user for feedback to give back
to the artist...
* to teach them the perils of ASCAP, show them this video by Mike
Rugnetta of MEMEFACTORY fame:

* shoot them a copy of Lessig's Free Culture speech

More ideas? Anyone done something like this?
