Moving this thread to our discuss mailing list. We generally just use
the chapters list to make announcements that need to get disseminated
to all of our chapter leaders. Your introduction will meet a broader
audience here on the discuss list.

I like the collaborative painting idea. Let us know how it goes! If it
goes well, one thing you could do to follow up is organize an "open
art" show featuring a bunch of community-created and CC-licensed work.
I know that at least one chapter has done this in the past.
